Ujamaa: Cooperative Economics

This post, unlike others, will not be a long blog post. This blog post will consist of a link to 180 Black owned businesses. I want to make this post less about my interpretation of Black economics and more about supporting Black owned businesses both big and small. I also want to clarify that this collectiveness in our push for more equitable capital in our community is extremely important. The focus on our economic relationships with one another being equitable and beneficial for everyone involved. I don’t believe creating Black billionaires will save us from our economic disadvantages. I think it only creates the gluttonous spirit that further fuels capitalism. With that being acknowledged, capitalism isn’t going anywhere anytime in the near future. White supremacy will do whatever it takes to make sure it sibling system of capitalism thrives. In the meantime, it is important for us to support each other through supporting Black owned businesses on every level where we can. The attempt, for me, is to try my best to buy Black owned products, artwork, and pay for Black owned services. I also have the privilege of living in NYC, which is a diverse and filled with many different creatives hustling to do their thing. I truly hope this list serves you as a reader well. I still have not finished moving through it myself but I am very excited to see which ones can replace some of the products and services that I am using now. If, there are any suggestions please comment on the post for others to know and so I can be more informed as well.
