The purpose of Black Maskulinity is to bring awareness to the complexities of racialized masculinity, specifically in American culture. To identify as a Black man in this world comes with its own nuances that I feel has yet to be explored further on a deeper level. Rarely do we as a whole explore the emotional and spiritual needs or concerns of people who identify as Black men. We often ask about their thoughts or force conversations into a space of intellectualizing but rarely do we ask “what does this cause you to feel?”. Black Maskulinity is an attempt to bring feelings, emotions, and vulnerability into conversations between those who identify as Black men: to get a better understanding of the various experiences people who identify as Black men have.
